Centre cubie

Hi everyone, does anybody know an algorithm that will rotate the centre cubie of a 3x3x3 90 degrees? It would be a big help if anyone knew one. Cheers.

Re: Centre cubie

the back and the front clock wise, the top and bottom leftwords, the left and right upwords. the front and back clockwise once more and youre done

I then like to add the checker pattern to it after that.

180 on the left, right, top, bottom, front and back (all of them).

Re: Centre cubie

It's impossible to rotate any one centre 90 degrees without affecting another.

Basically there have to be an even number of 90 degree turns.  For example, rotate up and right 90 degrees, or up and down 90 degrees, or up and right 180 degrees or just rotate up 180 degrees.

To rotate R, R2 or R' and U' U2 or U (so one goes clockwise the other anticlockwise)...

RL', FB', UD', (R, R2 or R' - you choose), LR', BF', DU' (U', U2 or U - depending on which you picked for the middle choice).

To rotate U2 only...

(RL, U2, R'L' U) x2.

There are algs for U and D, but I never needed them, so I never learned them.

Thanks borginator2, your reply was of great help to me. I think you're one of only a few sensible people on this site. Much appreciated. I was having some trouble with a pochmann cube, and was also thinking of buying an Earth cube from PUZL so your info will come in very handy. Cheers!

Thanks.  Actually I tend to be located at another forum which is banned to mention here (but  have a link to it in my info box to the left of this, hehe!)

I'm admin there, but still remember this forum fondly, in the days before Muscle Mass spam and before Rubiks God came here...  ahhh  happy days...
