How to solve a Rubik's Cube

Postby borginator2 » Wed Sep 14, 2011 11:01 am

Here's my guide on solving a normal 3x3 Rubik's cube. I have tried to make the vid as simple as possible. There are quicker methods, but I suspect this is one of the easiest.

Hey guys, if you need to learn how to solve the 3x3x3 Rubik's cube quickly and easily, check my three part video on youtube under Swafmore here is the link, note algorithms are in the desrciption.

That's because you have an unsolvable cube. There's a guide on the solutions board to help you there.

There's an alternative way of solving the cube at http://www.sobaris.com/how-to-solve-rubiks-cube-01.htm which is suitable for beginners. It assumes that you can solve the top face but after that there are only three algorithms, one to position the bottom corners, one to rotate the bottom corners and one for all the remaining edge pieces. The notation used to describe the algorithms is non-standard but is easy enough to convert if you feel the need. Hope you find it useful.

What do you do when on the corners for the 1st face, the final corner is on the bottom when the 1st side is up?

I think that you are talking about the situation that is shown in the following image. In it, the same 3x3x3 is shown from two different views.

Here is how you can solve the corner. Place the green side on the top and do the following.

-Turn the yellow side counterclockwise.
-Turn the bottom layer clockwise.
-Turn the yellow side clockwise.

The corner's top color is on the side now. You can solve it like you normally would.
(You could also start by turning the orange side. See if you can figure it out. :) )

If you were asking about something else, you can post a reply and say so.

I hope this helps.
