Deluxe cubes

Postby blackwidowcd » Sat Oct 18, 2008 10:01 am

Why don't they make these any more? Tiles are better than stickers because they don't peel off. Is there something wrong with tiles?

I've noticed that companies make these cheap knockoff cubes with tiles. I'm thinking about spray painting my entire rubik's cube (which is already painted) one color and putting these tiles on it. Would it work?

I thought about doing that and with my old cube, I spray painted the white side and used a paint kit for the other sides since I only had 1 spray paint color. The spray paint wore down and I don't think spray paint would be permanant. I thought about spray painting the whole cube a different color. If I did that, would tiles stick to the paint?

If the spray paint wore off then I think you shouldn't paint it again

I dont think you should paint the cube and stick tiles to it

If your having problems sticking tiles, then i think you should put a drop of superglue before you put on the tiles

I thought of using tiles because they don't wear down and I thought of spray painting just to change the color of the cube and was wondering if the tiles would stick on to the paint.

Well, if all you want to do is change the color of the cube, then I would recommend getting a colored DIY off of cube4you or something like that.

Hopes this helps

Oh, and the DIY cubes, I think are around 12 dollars

I got a DIY cube from rubik's.com and I don't use it for speedcubing because it falls apart too easily.

I once bought a car from Ford - it was crap.  That doesn't mean the car I bought from Audi is going to be as bad.

The moral - not all DIY cubes are the same.  cubes4you.com is fairly reliable for cubes.

It probbalbly falls apart to easily because you didn't tighten it enough

Just pop off the center cap and tighten the screws on all 6 sides

If you superglued the caps, then I have nothing for you

Good luck speedcubing
