-Lube
-Faster cube
-Practice finger-tricks
-Learn shortcuts
- Don't listen to Dan Brown. What he says finger-tricks are isn't accurate.
-If you REALLY want to lower your time, learn F2L, OLL, & PLL from MeMyselfAndPi's tutorial.

I'm not an expert or anything like that, but I don't think that it would be good to learn CFOP when solves are more than three minutes. It would probably be better to practice a simpler method for a while. The cube can be solved very quickly using a basic method. In this video, Erik Akkersdijk gets a 19.74 average of twelve using a beginner's method and 4-look last layer. Most people don't solve that fast using that approach, but it shows what is possible with basic methods.

Also you can try to learn the Keyhole method...
