How does a 5d rubik's cube even make sense?

It has 5 PERPENDICULAR axes.
Your 3d cube's corners have 3 colours but for a 5d cube there are 5 colours.
The picture is projected down from 5d to 4d to 3d then onto your 2d computer screen. Because of that, it's distorted and some information is lost. For example, all of the separate "faces" are actually the same size.

Lastly, a 2d person will ask how your 3d cube makes sense. (logic, not real life possibility for you to debate about.)

Just download the program and play around with the controls--it should help.
