Which cube?

Postby skeletonboy » Thu Nov 24, 2011 1:49 am

I might be able to buy a cube, which should I get? I was going for the Gu Hong, no locks, no pops, super smooth, 45 degree cuts, but Sharkretriver said Gu Hong pops a lot and that Zhanchi is best considered.

Which should I get, or any other 3x3 speedcube?

I said that guhongs sometimes pop, like 1/100 or something.
I recommend a Zhanchi if you can get that at the stores you're looking in, otherwise just get a Guhong, they're especially good for one handed.

In Witeden, they say Dayan Guhong 5- Zhan Chi.

Is that the proper one?

Definitely, although you might want to watch out for the shipping price.
Shops in US include speedcubeshop and cubedepot, and shipping price there is less expensive (I'm assuming you live in America)

How about Witeden? The cheapest shipping is 1.96$ + 14$ cube = around $16.

Cube Depot is 17$ with shipping.

.....Hmmm, this review from a trusted user (Thrawst) seems to worry me:

I'm no where near sub-15.

You don't have to be. I met someone at a competition who was able to sub-30 (pr was it sub-35) from buying the Zhanchi, and had a Guhong as well.
Just doesn't matter much, the mechs of the cubes are pretty similar, it's not like deciding whether to get a Mefferts 4x4x4 or Maru 4X4X4 or Dayan+MF8 4x4x4 (Those mechs are completely different)
