Fewest Moves: Stickers.

Article E in the WCA regulations for fewest moves competitions states that:

E3) The competitor may use the following objects: paper and pen (both supplied by judge), 3 cubes (self supplied), unlimited coloured stickers (self supplied).

I just wonder if there is any limitation on the intended use of these stickers. Is it purely for replacing bad stickers on your cube,
or can you use any type of stickers for any purpose you like, such as putting them on pieces to track their position throughout a solve and find an optimal place to cycle them into place (insertions)?

I'm a bit puzzled by the word "coloured" in the rule. Counting white and black, I'd say that all stickers have a colour. Would be nice to know before my first contest.

Maybe you could use a full set to solve the cube in 0 moves just by stickering over the top of the old ones.
