Official cube with wrong colors?

Postby supercain » Sun Jun 09, 2013 12:49 pm

Hi,

i live in Japan, and the company that seems to have the license to produce and sell the Rubiks cube here is called Megahouse. I bought one from them but i found the blue and yellow are swapped! And not only mine, all the cubes made by this company regardless of size or type are like this. Why is it that? Is it valid that combination too? Or its just a horrendous mistake by the company that made it?

Thank you.

I have no idea why, but Japanese cubes do have blue opposite white. I have a rubiks 2x2, 4x4 and a picture cube 3x3 with that scheme.

Well, the Japanese have their own colour scheme/arrangement.
If you really want to get rid of it, then you can buy some cubesmith stickers, take the stickers off the Rubik's cube, and replace them with the Cubesmith ones in the "official" scheme.
lol, here to help ^_~

Thats pretty weird. I really dont know what they do that. I had to tear off the stickers and stick them onto the right place but now they look like shit. I guess that if i want a cube with the right color arrangement i have to buy it online or something?

Most people either make do, but another cube or resticker with A NEW SET of stickers. No-one ever sticks the old ones back on. Of course they look crap. Go to here:

https://www.rubiks.com/shop/product.php?pid=115

Buy stickers from here or tiles from cubesmith (what I normally do).

Thank you for your answers. This is exactly the one i bought here in Japan:

I would like to buy the same type but with the RIGHT color scheme. However, there is no more product pictures so i cant see whether or not it has the right scheme or has the wrong colors too.

If you buy from a UK or US site, you should get the standard rubik's scheme unless they say otherwise. If you buy from an oriental site, it's less likely you'll get that.

Of course, you could always buy an unstickered cube with a set of stickers / tiles and do it yourself.

Thanks. I think thats the best solution because if i buy it online shipping will be more expensive than the cube itself.

Guess what? I just found out that the cube i bought was from 2011! I found in another store the same cube, same company and everything but from 2013 and that one had the right colors! Men, what a waste of money!

Never tried buying one. I hear it's been out of fashion for couple of centuries, although I hear certain companies are doing their best to bring it back... ;)
