Z Permutation

Postby cronus616 » Fri Aug 15, 2008 5:23 am

I hate Z perm. It's awkward. But at least its fast.

This is the alg I use for it:
M2 U M2 U M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2

But I have heard this one is alot faster:
U2 [(R U R' U) (R' U' R' U) (R U' R' U') R2 U R]

but i dont see how. sure its just RU triggers, but its alot more of moves in total
which one do you use??

I use the bottom 1 because I'm not very fast at turning M.
I use the bottom 1 because I'm not very fast at turning M.
Its really easy just take the left or right face and turn it two times then grab the middle layer and bring it back up, if that makes sense thats for M2.

(U R' U' R U' R) U (R U') (R' U) (R U) (R2 U') (R' U)
For that first long trigger, the first U' is done with the left index finger.
Split that first U2 from the second alg so so the finger tricks fit in with everything else.

OK, let's expand this one:  M2 U M2 U M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2
R R L L D R R L L U L R' F F R R L L B B L R' U U
U R' U' R U' R U R U' R' U R U R R U' R' U

Now which one uses fewer moves?  That's why it can be faster

but i dont use r' R to make the M turns
I use my ring fingers in the back to just turn the M-layer independantly of the L and R faces and it actually goes pretty quick.

I really don't like that ring finger thing. It is simply inelegant and doesn't finger trick with any other moves.

Also realize that in the grand scheme of things, knowing a PLL that is .2 seconds faster doesn't really mean all that much if your F2L takes 20 seconds.

actually, i find the ring finger thing to pull off nicely with other finger tricks if its done right
but yeah i guess not that much of an improvement anyway
