Cube Lubricant!

Postby cronus616 » Sat Aug 16, 2008 8:36 am

Everyone loves lube!
But the current lube I use is..........not cool.
It's silicone based, but it's wierd and I don't like it.

What lube do you use??
I heard CRC silicone is good. Where can I get some??
And what's the chemical you're supposed to look for in the contents of a lube? I forget it.......

I heard WD40 sucks for cubes, and I've heard mixed reviews about petroluem jelly and vaseline.
Which is good and which isn't?

Alot of questions, I know, but whatev.

EDIT: OMG today I tried using Ace Hardware 100% Silicone Lubricant. It is AMAZING. Turns sooooo fast. But some of the internal cubies (its a black DIY) are now stained white. Is that normal?

You can get CRC at Wal-Mart man.  Food grade and the high end stuff which smells like oil and taint.

I don't know why it stains them white...It kindof washes off...not completely though...I think it freezes them or something....I have NO clue.

yeah i must admit, the white stain really scared me
but there mostly gone now

and WHAT is the deal with rubiks 5x5's?
I've tried 3 different brand of lube on it, all 3 types REALLY improved the rest of my cubes
but not my 5x5
its like it absorbs the lube, the lube doesnt seem to DO anything to it =O
nothing can lube my 5x5 what the heck
its still almost just as stiff as when i got it
