DIY first timers LOOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!1!one!!!1!1

Postby Embracetoday » Sun Aug 17, 2008 3:47 am

I recieved my first DIY yesterday.  Actually I got five of them.  Three of them are my girlfriends.  I got a megaminx too. ANYWAY!

When I first looked at all those little bags with dissasembled cubes I have to admit I was a little over zealous in how easy it would be to put them together.  If you are just putting them together the best advice I can offer is just to be PATIENT!  I got way to excited and put mine together quickly.  It was REALLY tight and I wound up having to pop those pains called center caps off and put them BACK in...which is a pain.

When adjusting the tention, which is the hardest part, just look at how far your screws are in on each side.  Counting the threads is a pretty good way to gauge.  put the cube together and look at it.  Look for sides that are squeezing out or sides that are too loose.  It's simple if you just give it a little thought and some patients.

Once your done man those cubes are amazing!  I love them.

also u should put the washers so that the smooth side is facing the spring and only loosly tighten the screws and keep tightening them until you've got the tension that u want. If u do both of these things the faces wont un-tighte from solving.

When I got mine the instructions said to put all 9 stickers on one side at once. I  put them on one at a time so that I would know for sure that they would be centered.

I've seen some diys that come with this little clear laminate sheet and you put the stickers on those and then on the cube.  It would have made putting mine together a lot less confusing.

Yeah I used the clear laminate thing but to only put 1 sticker on at a time. I used the one that came with my 2x2 to put all 4 stickers on one side at a time. but I didnt want to risk messing up my 3x3 stickers that way. (for some reason I forgot to order a 2nd set of stickers with the 3x3)

I ordered from Puzzleproz, unless you buy the one with extra stickers they dont send any extra. I ordered a 2x2 eastsheen from mefferts & they sent exra stickers. The 2x2 was supposed to be the  assembly cube. When I got it it was put together and only needed stickers put on.

WIN!  They are a pain in the ass to put together...Well I hear that Eastsheen has a different mechanism...also I only have Jr.  so I don't know what the regular 2x2x2 looks like on the inside.
