5x5x5..parity?

Postby RyanReese09 » Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:31 am

Hello, I have a 5x5x5. Pretend it is copmletely solved (the bottom 4 layers). Pretend everything is solved. However, take the white and red EDGE PEICES ONLY and flip them around..is this a parity? i solved like a regular 3x3x3 however this seems to be happening to me..am I having a parity error? if so how do i fix it? thanks in advance.

All good except for all the red/white edge pieces eh?  yeah this happens on 4xs too.  Im trying to think on how to describe my particular fixing method but mine is more long and drawn out.  Im not sure even anyone uses it because I figured out how to solve cubes on my own.  ah this seems to be a good vid

Just hold it with the red and white edge on the U layer closest to you...and do this alg...r2 B2 U2 l U2 r' U2 r U2 F2 r F2 l' B2 r2...lower case letters are the right 2 slices and left two slices respectively..

that doesn't work. i tried twice and both times i just got back to the part where I have to solve the tredge pieces. which upon me solving, yeilds the same parity. perhaps the cube is faulty? or someone switched the stickers?

I've done a parity vid for this case before on my channel.  I've had a request to cover parity on the 4x4 and 5x5, so I'll do that today at some point and cover both puzzles.

btw, this forum does blow, but most of the people here are great.  The reason it blows is that it is unmoderated and full of spam and people who ask the same questions every day.  The latter part is down to the poor organisation of the forum boards.

Most of the people who are regulars here are in fact very helpful.  Please also bear in mind that if you don't get an answer within a few minutes, it's not our fault.  I'm in a different timezone to a lot of members (UK, some are in Australia / US / Canada or maybe even other countries where English isn't a first language).  Give us time to answer please.
Please take off topic discussion off this forum. Thanks.
