i want to get under 10 seconds

Postby eXon2 » Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:07 am

Hey there,

I am just new to this forum so i hope its posted right.

so actually i can do the f2l, like 2-3 olls and around 15 plls.
my best record for now is 14.27, and i wanna get under 10 seconds
now i dont know what i should learn if i just go for the olls and plls
or if i go for the zbf2l and coll what do you think is faster?

if u need any information just ask me :)

learn all plls first, then after you don't have any issues with recognizing, then work on your look-ahead, if you haven't already.

Your best is 14, but what's your average?
Speedcubing isn't only about memorizing; it's about dedication.
You're going to have to make sure you can recognize the cases really quickly. If your f2l takes over 10-15 seconds, ignore all steps below and keep working on your f2l.

Anyway, do you use intuitive or alg f2l?
You should know all of the cases for 2-look oll. That should reduce your time by around 5 seconds.
After that, you should learn the other 6 pll and also some f2l shortcuts (yep, some algs for f2l). You might wanna learn XCross too.
Then you start memorizing all 57 olls and you should be hitting 12 average after that.
If you're still going to memo more algs, then learn COLL. By then you should be under 10 seconds.

hey,

my avg is around 22 cause of the bad solution i use at the moment^^
not sure how long my f2l takes but will try and post later
and for your question i use intuitive f2l so should i learn some f2l algs? or think more before i move my f2l?

so just zbf2l and coll wont be good as oll and pll i guess?
btw what is xcross? i just solve the cross like badmephisto showed in a video like to use as less moves as possible.

What IS your solution? From the alg list i don't think 22's that bad.
You could try learning some algs but just make sure that your f2l is around 10 seconds, (yeah I change it to ten), to ensure that you're sub 20. For sub 10, your f2l needs to be around 5 seconds.
ZBF2L+COLL isn't really worth learning.
For Xcross search "thewestonian xcross" on youtube.

well my solution at the moment is:

Normal cross (cross solve on top, what isnt good^^)
intuitive f2l (with cube rotations)
oll ( i know some 2look olls and mostly i force a sune or anti sune)
pll (13 algos)
i guess my avg is good because i am just fast with my fingers

so yeah will watch the xcross video
than i have to learn the olls and plls but first i will take my f2l to a good time with less cube rotations.

so i wont learn zbf2l + coll

thank you really really much !!!

Force cross onto bottom, because all cube rotations waste time. (I mean that's a reason why Roux method exists: no cube rotations)
For intuitive f2l you're going to want to do some slow solves and try some ways of reducing cube rotations. You can also try searching "westonian rotationless f2l insert" on youtube (yeah he has many great tutorials)
For OLL you'll want to know all 2-look algorithms first.
13 algs isn't that bad for PLL, after you learn those 2-look OLL algs start learning all 21 PLLs.
Also, watch out for look ahead: while solving an f2l pair you should be looking for your next one

all right will do everything i guess :) and maybe if its not enaugh to reach the 10 second mark i will have to learn all the olls ^^

so yeah thanks for all of your time and your knowledge u gave me to get better
best wishes!

You noticed how many new posts this forum gets per day? (Answer: around 0.5)
Anyway, what I've posted should get you to sub-18 (average).
By that time you learn all of your OLLs. Your fingers should already be really fast by then (e.g. U perm in under 2 seconds)
Then after that you should be sub-15. Sub-10 is really difficult because of the amount of cases you have to memo and the amount of time you have to spend practicing (you might as well do 50-100 solves a day then by that time)

...that you see. I destroy about 4-5 that you don't see. Unless you want adverts for Ugg boots, holidays abroad, or cheap iPhones, I think the place is better for it.
Please take off topic discussion off this forum. Thanks.
