Make a rubik's cube unsolvable

Postby PatInTheHat » Fri Sep 14, 2012 3:07 am

I have a friend who is fairly proficient at completing a rubik's cube in a short time frame. I wish to rig a cube in such a way to make it unsolvable in a method that will be most difficult for him to figure out that the cube is infact fixed. I have purchased a blank cube through Rubik's and my question is would it be best to swap a certain set of coloured blocks or to simply remove 1 colour and add an additional colour, or perhaps another method I haven't though of?

Unsolvable but fixable at the same time? Did you mean manipulating the stickers to make the cube as difficult to solve (but still possible to solve)?
You can buy new stickers such as the Shepard's maze and Sudokube stickers (which can be found on Cubesmith) and use those on the Rubik's cube
I'm not sure how difficult a puzzle can be made just by swapping stickers around and in that case there will be no permutation where all faces match.
lol, here to help ^_~
