counterclockwise red-white-blue centers on 4x4x4 cube

Postby mom2alexandtom » Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:47 pm

Hi,
My son is working on solving the 4x4x4 for the first time and I noticed that he has red-white-blue centers counterclockwise rather than clockwise (although red is opposite orange, white is opposite yellow, and blue is opposite green.) Can the cube be solved this way?

Thanks,
L

In a word... no.

He needs to swap one pair of opposite faces. I suggest red and orange.

Put orange on F.

Then do (Rr)2 B2 (Rr)2 (Ll)2 B2 (Ll)2 where (Rr) means both the Right face (R) and the right hand middle slice (r).

I think that's right. The first part should swap the right hand centre pair of squares front to back. The second swaps the left.
